Today I went birding after work with my coworker friend who is also into birding. We went to a local state park. There is a spot we like to sit at whith a seed pile where a lot of birds gather. Today I saw grackles, a cowbird, lots of white throated sparrows and house sparrows, white breasted nuthatches, downy woodpeckers, a red bellied woodpecker, tufted titmice (titmouses?), a couple of crows, some canada geese, and lots and lots of cardinals. All of a sudden, all of the birds at the seed pile flew away and it was crickets for a twenty minutes. Right as I was about to try a different location, a coopers hawk flew in. He must have been the reason all the birds flew away. Such is life!
